About Us

St. Peter Baptist Church

The purpose of this church is to glorify Christ, to strive to carry out the Great Commission of our Lord (Matthew 28:18-20) by the help of God through the Holy Spirit (1Corinthians 3:9), and to provide fellowship for God’s people.

The church where everybody is welcome!

Vision

The St. Peter Baptist Church is a body of faith that is committed to impacting and empowering people to change our community for Jesus Christ through our ministry, evangelism and love.

Mission

The St. Peter Baptist Church is a body of caring, born-again Christians called by Jesus Christ. This church is committed by our faith and love for God to develop personal relationships with our Lord. We, the members of St. Peter Baptist Church, are dedicated to going into all the world proclaiming the Gospel and using the Holy Bible as our standard for demonstrating Christ’s love. Our core values for glorifying God include:
  • Providing ministry to those in need through Bible Study, Christian Education, Fellowship, and Prayer for each age group of our membership, and
  • Reaching outward through personal Witnessing, Evangelism, and the Giving of Assistance to individuals in need

Statement of Faith

We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is a perfect treasure of heavenly instruction; that it has God for its author, Salvation for its end, and Truth without any mixture of error for its matter; that it reveals the principles by which God will judge us, and therefore is, and shall remain, to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be measured.

CHURCH COVENANT

Having been led, as we believe of the Lord, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour, and on the profession of our faith having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, angels and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.

We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in grace, knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; to give it a sacred pre-eminence over all institutions of human origin; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to its support, to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

We further covenant to maintain family and secret devotions; to educate our children in the Word of God; to seek the salvation of our family and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings; faithful in our responsibilities, and exemplary in our behaviour; to avoid all tattling (gossip), backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from everything that will cause our brother to stumble, or that will bring reproach upon the cause of Christ, to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drinks as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Saviour.

We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember each other in prayer; to aid each other in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, and mindful of the rules of our Saviour to secure it without delay.

We, moreover, engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other Church of like faith and practice, where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Membership in this church is open to all individuals who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, give evidence by their confession and conduct that they are His faithful disciples and govern themselves by our Constitution, By-Laws and Church Covenant.
